BUSINESS

Mobile Monastery was founded on the vision that Australian businesses would embrace mobile technology sooner rather than later. Since 2012 we have been helping them do just that.

Driving interactive screens for film sets and props.

Alien: Covenant is a 20th Century Fox film directed by Ridley Scott. It is the second in chronological order after Prometheus (2012) and is a prequel to Alien (1979).

Mobile Monastery were approached by Human Media to solve a technical challenge facing the movie's creative team. Their goal was to film computer interfaces as much 'in-camera' as possible without being visual effected in later. iOS devices were chosen to drive the touch screens that actors would interact with. To help the team render eye-catching interfaces, we developed a system to display animated loops that would respond to an actor's touch. New loops could be deployed wirelessly for rapid scene changes.

Helping 40,000 kids learn to swim.

Carlile swimming approached Code Monastery through the Apple Store Chatswood Chase, at the time Carlile were looking to modernise their business and connect more frequently with the parents of students learning to swim.

Working with the Carlile team, Code Monastery designed a brand new pool side experience for student, teachers, supervisors and parents. This new experience combined the wonderful Carlile curriculum with detailed skill and progress tracking, class schedules, student profiles and parent communication, all in a single easy to use iPad app.

The Supervisor App saw Carlile Swimming recognised with the Swim Australia Award For Excellence - Best Swim School Innovation in 2015.

An intelligent engine for performance analysis.

Guided Knowledge is a startup based in both Australia and the UK aiming to create education products that provide learners the same experience as one on one tuition. The project consisted of product design consulting, research and development, software development services and strategic advice to Guided Knowledge for the creation of this cutting edge mobile learning platform. The main products worked on were a guitar teaching environment and a motion analysis system for learning golf.

The guitar project consisted of an iPad-based app that displayed video based guitar lessons, with on screen sheet music which received input from a polyphonic pickup for user input. An intelligent engine for playing analysis was developed to deliver specific, easy to understand advice for player improvement. In addition to the iPad app, a cloud based content management system was designed and implemented.

Music videos for the connected generation.

The project consisted of the creation of both iPhone and AppleTV app for the new LoopTV music video streaming service. The app has a simple to use, high fidelity user interface with a large focus on animation, visual fidelity and user experience. A simple, intuitive user interface was designed for quick access on-the-go to the latest curated playlists and favourite 'My Loop' videos.

Loop.tv were provided with highly polished iPhone and AppleTV apps for submission to the App store, due for global release in early 2017. Combining heavy use of integrated video content with fluid navigation and beautifully animated screen transitions, these apps have delighted initial users while providing access to exclusive music video content.
